Peru / 019 View of the main temple at Chavin, Chavin de Huantar. The old temple is on the right. Inside what looks like a shed are entrances to the meditation cells and tunnels that lead to the main statue. In the middle of the larger newer temple are the only round pillars found in all of ancient South America. There is a large courtyard for ceremonies in the front of the temple. There is no evidence of any military or human sacrifice. The next picture was taken to the left of the main temple.
