Peru / 030 Popularly called, "El Lanzon" because it looks like a lance, the central 15-foot (4.5 m) statue in the innards of the Chavin temple actually resembles an Andean plow. A shaft above traditionally let enough light in to give pilgrims a sense of what the statue was about.
