Shortly after the camp opened someone had the idea to have United Nations Volunteers act as teacher trainers. This was my group of five volunteers which brought the total number of UNVs to about 25. None of us quit, but not one of us stayed in the camp or the Philippines a day longer than our contract required us to. Will Prior, the man on the left handled the situation better than the rest of us. A Harvard man, he had been a Peace Corps in South America and a social worker in Vietnam during the war. For the rest of us, our year's contract would be a challenge.

We were the last group of United Nations Volunteers to work in the camp. After that highly-paid "experts" and drunks were hired to work as teacher trainers. Many foreighers who were hanging around the Philippines ened up working in the camp as teachers or trainers.
