From left to right, Bong, Somanette, Om, and Sokkhanno in their house in the Kao-I-Dang refugee camp on the Thai/Cambodian border. At one time Kao-i-dang was the biggest Camodian city, population, 80,000. I later visited Kao-I-Dang. It was amazing—the Thais forbid the construction of any permanent structures so everything was bamboo, thatch, and at best, as you see here, asbestes board. Everywhere in Kao-I-Dang were huge ditches for people to hide in when the camp was shelled from Cambodia. |
