Cancer supplements -- details and
trivia
This webpage will range from the sublime
to the mundane. It is meant more as a reference to
skim and use as a starting point to check out
supplements, etc. The writer doesn't want to offend
anyone who might be suffering because of his
seemingly, at times, lighthearted attitude. To better
understand his background relating to cancer and other
afflictions, Go
Here.
This research will focus mainly on
supplements, foods, herbs, teas, and some therapies. A
summary will be given as a starting point, followed by
more in-depth information. This will include
recommended supplements with typical online prices.
From these links you may be able to search and find
more, and possibly better information. If you have a
cancer coach, it can enable you to ask more
intelligent questions.
It seems that generally fast developing
cancers are often defeated if caught in time and the
right treatment(s) used, even if in Stage IV. Slow
growing cancers, such as locally advanced BCC and bone
cancer, give one more time to try various remedies,
but are often harder to eliminate. The strategy used
mostly in this case is to try various supplements that
might stimulate the immune system synergistically
which over time may cause the cancer to become
dormant, if not eliminated.
I will list the supplements, then
analyze them in groups, give reasons why I chose each
one, and give an idea of where they can be ordered and
the price. That will possibly help you find the right
supplements that can help against whatever cancer you
are researching.
Here are research and supplier websites
that will be reference more than once.

BN and LS develop most of their products
from organic, plant-based products with utmost care
rather than the typical mass-production of mainstream
supplements.
(V) Vitaglo -- Mostly mainstream
supplements, usually from 20% to 50% off. Most choices
will be NOW brand to give an idea of price. They carry
many other brands if you prefer.

The supplements I try are many.
Description links are often given you can click on.
Broken into four groups they include:
1. For an immune system foundation diet:
digestive enzymes, proteolytic enzymes, probiotics,
Longevinex resveratrol, D3, B12, freshly ground flax
seeds or high-lignan flax oil or DHA, chia seeds,
Ubiquinol (CoQ10), borage oil or evening primrose oil,
Ever Young (L-carnosine, acetyl-L-Carnitine HCL, DMAE,
trace minerals), and Glucotor v.2 if blood sugar
levels are somewhat high.
2. Sometimes take: Silymarin, ionic
trace minerals, Multiplex multivitamins, Blood
Support, Dr. Wheeler's Power Herbal Formula, Betaine
HCL
3. Anti-cancer: Genesis rice bran
extract, LS glutathene, NAC, Raspex raspberry seed
powder, MSM, D-Ribose, MPS-Gold 100 Aloe Vera Powder,
Liver Flush Tea, D-glucarate, Host Defense mushroom
extract, Beta Glucan, IP-6, catalyst altered trace
minerals,
4. Herbs, teas, etc.: Turmeric, garlic,
fresh ginger, organic cocoa powder, green and white
teas, holy basil tea, dandelion root tea, cloves,
echinacea tea, Celtic sea salt, kelp granules, quinoa,
black or wild rice
Here are the supplements starting with
some of the most recommended against cancer.
These two recommended by JB are sold at
LS: Genesis Complex - stabilized rice bran with
special vit. C - (also see IP-6 below), and glutathene
from whey.
http://www.lifestar.com/Pages/genesiscomplex.html
Glutathene - Premium Whey Protein
Complex (vegan comments below)

Beta Glucans - do not know much about
this brand, 60 capsules x 500 mg $55.
I ordered from this site that claims to
have the best quality.

Mushrooms against cancer. Instead of
AHCC, consider following a recommendation to use a
broader-based mushroom extract. This company was
recommended by Dr. Andrew Weil. "One very good source
for these is Fungi Perfecti in Olympia, Wash. (www.fungi.com)." He also
says, "AHCC is a Japanese medicinal mushroom extract
formulated to help strengthen the immune system. It is
being marketed in Japan as a supplement for cancer
patients, particularly those undergoing chemotherapy.
The manufacturer also suggests it has a use for
prevention of recurrences among patients who have been
treated for cancer, and for the promotion and
maintenance of good health."
http://www.vitaglo.com/ncmc120.html
Vitaglo.com sells them at 25% off, and
if you order from Vitaglo.com, their monthly special
often gives another 20% off for funji.com products
with the code "funji".
MSM, etc., for pain with D-Ribose for
lactic acid created by cancer cells.
1 tsp each per meal.
http://www.jonbarron.org/anti-aging/natural-health-barron-report-pain
http://www.vitaglo.com/2126.html
"A Sulfur deficiency can result in
fatigue and an increased susceptibility to allergies,
muscle spasms and cramps, soreness, infection,
arthritis, hair loss, numerous skin diseases as well
as intestinal, kidney and bladder problems."
MSM powder is better to take than
capsules that contain other ingredients.
and D-Ribose - a special sugar. Heart MD
Institute says: Because their energy demands exceed
what their bodies are able to produce, people with
ischemic heart disease, congestive heart failure
(CHF), hypertension, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue
syndrome, in addition to serious athletes, need to
supplement with D-ribose. It stimulates insulin and
reduce blood sugar levels.
http://www.cancertutor.com/Other02/AdvCachexia.html
Take about 1 teaspoon after each meal.
http://www.vitaglo.com/2137.html
"No matter the cause, the impact of
energy depletion is to propel a downward spiral of
fatigue, muscle pain, soreness and stiffness that will
not stop until the energy in the affected tissue can
be restored.
"It is amazing how a special simple
sugar, called D-ribose, can help the body restore
energy, giving hearts and muscles the power they need
to fully recharge, so they can recover from fatigue
and chronic muscle pain."

Omega-3 imbalance - central to good
health and the Budwig Diet.
Freshly ground flax seeds - About $2 lb
for bulk seeds at local health food stores. Coffee
grinder information given at TGH. Grind about 3 tbs a
day, which is about 1 tbs of oil. Chia seeds are
probably even better.
High-lignan flax oil
http://www.vitaglo.com/1783.html
or capsules
http://www.vitaglo.com/1780.html
or DHA (vegetarian) - from fish is
cheaper
http://www.vitaglo.com/sn2270.html
or Chia seeds - better but more
expensive than flax seeds - 1 tbs twice a day
http://www.vitaglo.com/fntr499905.html
Borage oil and evening primrose oil help
block the absorption of omega-6 thereby helping
omega-3 be absorbed.
Borage

IP6 - a Highly Effective Alternative
Treatment for Cancer

Longevinex below is also an iron
chelating supplement.
http://www.lewrockwell.com/sardi/sardi39.html
B12 - as methylcobalim not cobalamin;
Vegetarians can take 1 x week if well and 3 x week if
sick, unless it is a B12 deficiency, then more is
needed.
http://www.vitaglo.com/495.html
As we get older, our body has trouble
making enough enzymes, even if we are well. Eating raw
vegetables and fruits helps, but we need more.
Digestive enzymes
http://www.baselinenutritionals.com/products/digestive-enzymes.php
Sometimes if we eat a meal that is too
large, or has a lot of slow-digesting protein and
fats, the meal can be followed about 40-60 minutes
after the meal with betaine HCL to help the digestion.
This can be especially needed with the sick and
elderly. Many supplement suppliers do not know when
betaine HCL should be taken (before, with, or after
meals). You can get an detailed explanation from Jon
Barron if you wish.
http://www.jonbarron.org/enzymes/natural-newsletter-digestive-health-part2
Betaine HCL
http://www.vitaglo.com/2938.html
Proteolytic enzymes
As mentioned above, these stimulate the
immune system against bacteria, viruses, cancer cells,
toxic metals, pollution, and much more. Again, this is
very essential as we get older and for the sick.
Probiotics - Probiotics are live
microorganisms (in most cases, bacteria) that are
similar to beneficial microorganisms found in the
human gut.

Two Supplements for longevity are good in a general
way for health.
1. Longevinex resveratrol - do not take
at the same meal with vitamin C supplement which
inhibits intake.
http://www.longevinex.com/
Longevinex Advantage gives added
nutrients to help the skin. It has helped clear up
many pre-cancerous blemishes on my face and hands.
This is the most researched and safest
resveratrol supplement. It can reverse macular
degeneration, and is the only resveratrol product
shown to do so.

Longevinex resveratrol helps clear
excess iron and other minerals from cells.

Stevia: Natural, good for diabetics, and
does not feed cancer cells like sugar.
Here is what Dr. Mercola says about
sweeteners including fructose.
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/10/08/the-4-best-and-3-worst-sweeteners-to-have-in-your-kitchen.aspx
There is a table of fruits and their
fructose content. Note that they are not per serving
since one Date (Medjool) has more fructose than a
medium banana. Consider berries as healthy fruit with
lower fructose content. I make a jar of unsweetened
crushed pineapple with a lot of frozen cranberries
mixed in sweetened with stevia to have for deserts.
Stevia Tabs - 200

Powder - 1 oz

Liquid - 8 oz
http://www.vitaglo.com/6991.html
Powder - 1 lb
http://www.vitaglo.com/6961.html
D3 - or maybe 15 minutes in the sun, but
not D2. 2000 IU for healthy people; 5000 IU for people
who are sick.
http://health.usnews.com/health-news/family-health/heart/articles/2008/06/23/time-in-the-sun-how-much-is-needed-for-vitamin-d
5000 IU
http://www.vitaglo.com/0373.html
2000 IU
http://www.vitaglo.com/0377.html
Ubiquinol (CoQ10) - your capability to convert CoQ10
to ubiquinol declines as you age or become ill. Thus
it is better to buy ubiquinol to support your health
if you are over 40 or have a chronic disease,
especially heart disease. But CoQ10 is cheaper.
http://www.vitaglo.com/3142.html
D-glucarate - to help detoxify the
liver.
Oral supplementation inhibits
beta-glucuronidase. Elevated beta-glucuronidase
activity is associated with an increased risk for
various cancers, particularly hormone-dependent
cancers such as breast, prostate, and colon cancers
http://www.vitaglo.com/sn0871.html
Catalyst altered trace minerals -- from
JB
http://www.baselinenutritionals.com/products/catalyst-altered-trace-minerals.php
Ionic trace minerals from Swanson
http://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-ultra-concentrace-ionic-trace-mineral-drops-8-fl-oz-236-ml-liquid
or Ionic trace minerals from Vitaglo
http://www.vitaglo.com/tmrito71.html
Salt -- sea salt and kelp granules are
better than refined iodized salt.
Consider sea salts dried to retain many
more minerals such as Celtic sea salt, Himalayan pink
salt, etc.
http://www.vitaglo.com/celtic1024355.html
Kelp -- provides natural iodine and may
help thyroid health, estrogen-related cancers, pain of
endometriosis, anti-inflammatory, has the ability to
induce apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells.
http://www.vitaglo.com/fntr546572.html
Silymarin - Used to protect the liver.
Take 2 or 3 times a day.
http://www.vitaglo.com/4753.html
Should probably be taken for a period of
time, then stopped for a week or two before repeating.
http://www.smart-publications.com/articles/silymarin-a-potent-antioxidant-liver-protector-and-anti-cancer-agent
Liver Flush Tea - powerful tea -
shortcut would be to brew a large batch for an hour
then run it through a blender, add stevia, and drink
it when wanted.
http://www.baselinenutritionals.com/products/liver-flush-tea.php
Dr. Wheeler's Power Herbal Formula is
another herbal tea mixture. I ordered it and some
vitamin C powder from the makers of MPS Gold 100 and
MPS Gold 3X to make my order exceed $400 which they
then doubled that order and will double any order I
make from them in the future. I mention that if you
have any interest in this special Aloe Vera
supplement.
NAC - take 1 or 2 a day. (See discussion
below) Raises the glutathene level in the body like
whey supplements.
http://www.vitaglo.com/86.html
Most of these supplements you might take
for a month, then as Jon Barron recommends, take a
week off each month. That depends on the
supplement. The more natural, food-like,
supplements and the teas might not require a
break. Others, such as NAC, may need a break a
little more often.
Dark Chocolate -- loaded with
antioxidants. Cocoa powder (organic) is basically 100%
cocoa solids and very low fat. A rounded teaspoon
twice a day is enough; mixed with stevia gives it a
good taste. A square of chocolate 70% or higher twice
a day would be all right, though having more calories
from sugar and fat. Studies have shown milk counters
the antioxidants of cocoa and of tea.
http://www.vitaglo.com/6672.html
Proteins -- Quinoa: "When NASA
scientists were searching decades ago for an ideal
food for long-term human space missions, they came
across an Andean plant called quinoa. With an
exceptional balance of protein and amino acids,
quinoa, they declared, is virtually unrivaled in the
plant or animal kingdom for its life-sustaining
nutrients." It conveniently cooks in about 15 minutes.
Amaranth -- Dr. Weil says, "Like
buckwheat and quinoa, amaranth is an especially
high-quality source of plant protein including two
essential amino acids, lysine and methionine, which
are generally low in grains. Amaranth is packed with
iron and calcium, and its fiber content is triple that
of wheat. Amaranth is completely gluten-free and
suitable for those with celiac disease; what’s more,
it is an especially digestible grain, making it a
traditional food for people recovering from illness or
transitioning from a fast or cleanse." It cooks in
about 45 minutes.
Protein powder -- Brown rice and yellow
pea protein powder mixture. Jon Barron recommends:
"Nutribody Protein is unlike any protein health
supplement on the market. It is a non-soy, all
vegetarian protein that has all the high protein
benefits of a dairy/whey protein without the digestive
side effects or cholesterol. It has all the natural
health advantages of a soy protein, but Nutribody’s
vegan protein powder is a scientifically designed
blend of rice and pea protein to offer higher Protein
Efficiency Ratio, no allergies, and will not disturb
hormone balances..." It costs about $35 for 2 lb if
you buy 4 in that general category.
http://www.baselinenutritionals.com/products/nutribody-protein.php
A cheaper alternative (relative
quality?) would be to buy both the rice and pea
protein powders in two-pound containers from Vitaglo
and mix them yourself for about 40% of JB's cost.

Animal protein including casein (over
80% of cow milk protein): Video of Celebrated Cornell
professor T. Colin Campbell who discusses his decades

At least minimize animal proteins in
your diet.

Turmeric -- amazing health qualities,
but how to get them digested into the body because of
low absorption? Recommendations include taking with
peperine, extract of black pepper
http://www.vitaglo.com/sn0644.html
or capsules mixed with bromelain (but
don't take with food which the bromelain will try to
digest),
http://www.vitaglo.com/3110.html
or with green tea.
Teas -- I use fresh ginger and bulk teas
from the health food store such as green tea, white
tea, holy basil, dandelion root, echinacea, a few
cloves, etc. I make them all together, run them
through the blender, mix in some stevia, and store
them in two glass quart jars to drink during the day.
Greens -- I buy one-pound organic 15
mixed herbs and greens, then put some in the blender
with some of the tea, a clove of garlic, a little
cayenne and cinnamon powder, and whatever else I
happen to try. I mix in some oat bran at the end. I
often start a meal by eating a little raw broccoli or
brussel sprouts. (Yes, I treat this more like
medicine.)
Fats -- Besides omega-3 oils, I eat an
avocado and use a little olive oil. I only cook quinoa
and black rice, but if I did cook I would use olive
oil in moderation at low temperatures.
Diet: This is controversial. An example
is given below with the Budwig Diet. It is like the
blind men and the elephant. Each one feels a different
part of the elephant, and each is right in describing
it in a limited way. But each may be wrong in the big
picture. One the other hand, each blind man may be
correct with respect to the specific cancer he is
dealing with. This is where a seeing-eyed cancer coach
can help - if he/she has good understanding.
If you want a review of some supplement
you aren't familiar with, you might see what Dr. Ray
Sahelian has to say. He lives with one foot in each
world of mainstream medicine and the other in
supplements and herbal remedies.
http://www.raysahelian.com/
Do a search for a supplement and his
name to see where he stands, not that his is the final
word, but rather a conservative starting point.
I can feel the energy from these powders
and capsules I take with breakfast when I'm out on my
morning walk, and throughout the day. Besides walking
or jogging, it is good to do some stretching and other
exercises. Even though someone may have an intense
workout once during the day, to lie around or sit in
front of a TV, computer, or desk for long periods for
the rest of the day is still unhealthy. You need to
get up and move around with more short walks, some
stretching, or other exercises to push food and
liquids through the intestines, blood and lymph
through the body, and suck fresh air into the lungs to
help the immune system do its job.
Calcium and magnesium: Sometimes extra
calcium and/or magnesium may be needed such as with
bone cancer, diabetes, and osteoporosis. Here is an
overview by JB on magnesium.
http://www.jonbarron.org/diabetes/bl101019/magnesium-dietary-supplements
In another newsletter he says:
The bottom line is that magnesium is the
most important major mineral needed by your body, and
unfortunately, the one that is most often depleted.
Trace minerals as supplied by the three
liquid supplements mentioned above are also important
with magnesium and calcium.
On Calcium: A caution by JB.

I feel that hydrotherapy mentioned before is not only
helpful to the immune system, it helps one' s state of
mind. I awaken each morning feeling rather blah from
mild sleep apnea and I proceed to the shower where I
wash in warm water, followed by cool water, then hot
water, finishing with cold, and I usually feel great.
Cold Showers, Hydrotherapy, and the Blues -- by
Jon Barron
http://www.jonbarron.org/article/cold-showers-hydrotherapy-and-blues
Unfortunately, the link to research by Nikolai Shevchuk
of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Virginia
Commonwealth University School of Medicine no longer
works. But here Shevchuk gives his research in an
NIH article. It focuses on the effect from being
cold.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2164952/
I would add from personal experience that the
warm-cool-hot-cold shower (or hot springs) pattern
repeated one or more times is more inviting and
invigorating than merely being cold since one can avoid
a possible aversion to the mere cold.
And here is the other link Jon mentioned:
Hot and Cold Water Therapy
http://healingtools.tripod.com/thn9.html
Ngawha Springs, NZ mentioned in TGH
gives a miracle cure for some ailments, sometimes,
especially arthritis. By moving back and forth between
hot pools and cold pools, one creates a hydrotherapy.
If one only soaks in a pleasant temperature pool, the
pools reek of sulfur, perhaps like taking MSM, and are
full of trace minerals. This would be a good place to
find the time to prepare your special supplements and
diets since there isn't much to do in this town of
100. The AWI Flats at Ngawha Springs have no internet
or phone connections. To rent a car for a month or so
would probably be the best approach since one must go
five miles into Kaikohe for groceries, supplies, and
the internet. Bring a book or two to read.
The email for the Maori Provider that
now manages AWI Flats: Mrs Poa is the contact person:
ngaropoa@thook.co.nz
The Q-Link pendant on TGH: I would like
to see more research on that. The BBC video indicates
the electromagnetic fields (EMF) caused by being
surrounded by a computer, printer, and other
electronic devices cause red blood cells to clump -
certainly unhealthy. It reminds me that years ago many
electric blankets were outlawed because of the
unhealthy EMF they created. Are we enveloping
ourselves now with computer generated electric
"blankets"? I wear one in front of the computer and on
air flights where one is exposed to extra radiation.
When I and others first tried the Q-Link we felt extra
energy, but was that just the placebo effect? Someone
please do more research studies on this using more
people.
Here is a little perspective on diets.
First of all, I don't want to undermine anyone's
belief in a diet, supplement, or treatment since the
placebo effect from one's state of mind helps much,
even if it is in mainstream medicine. Consider the
popular Budwig Diet. It was developed by a brilliant
German scientist, Johanna Budwig. In this case we will
consider a possible vegan alternative. (Skip this if
not of interest since it is rather long.)
Perspectives on the Budwig Diet.
========================================
Budwig Diet: A simple diet based on a
combination of flaxseed oil and low fat cottage cheese
(sulphurated protein), and rest in the sun for a
while.
The oil and cottage cheese are taken 2
or 3 times a day usually.
But how about people who want to avoid
dairy entirely? Is there a possible alternative diet
for vegans, those who are lactose intolerant, and
others who want to avoid dairy, such as those who have
read about casein in The China Study?
The main sulfur amino in cottage cheese
is L-Cysteine, an amino acid that can boost detox. Of
concern is casein, the main milk protein. Dr. Campbell
in the Introduction to his book, The China Study says:
"What protein consistently and strongly promoted
cancer? Casein, which makes up 87% of cow’s milk
protein, promoted all stages of the cancer process.
What type of protein did not promote cancer, even at
high levels of intake? The safe proteins were from
plants, including wheat and soy. As this picture came
into view, it began to challenge and then to shatter
some of my most cherished assumptions."
There are various versions of the diet
with some variations. Here is one.
http://www.cancertutor.com/Other03/Make_Budwig.html
Dr. Budwig had a very forceful
personality it seems, and that probably gave patients
confidence that they would recover, i. e., a strong
placebo effect. People using the diet today don't get
as good results as she did, but it is still considered
effective for many.
Possibly the amount of casein from the
cottage cheese is low enough that it does not
interfere with the benefits from cottage cheese. One
might ask, why not just use whey which is less toxic?
It is about 70% lactose which will bother some who are
lactose intolerant. Will it work since it raises the
glutathene level against cancer? I read, " . . damage
by free radicals has been determined to be one of the
fundamental causes of these types of diseases and
glutathione is known as an extraordinarily powerful
antioxidant that efficiently eliminates free radicals
from the body."
------------------
Glutathione. Described by chemists as a tripeptide
(composed of cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid),
glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant made by
the human body. Not surprisingly, low blood levels of
glutathione are associated with heart disease, cancer,
and other diseases. In addition, glutathione also
helps the liver break down toxic chemicals, whether
they are absorbed from the environment or produced by
the body. Researchers recently reported that diets
high in glutathione protected against lung cancer.
Good dietary sources of glutathione include beef,
potatoes, winter squash, oranges, and tomatoes. More
than 90 percent of the nonprotein-bound sulfur in
cells is found in glutathione. Dosage: 75-150 mg
daily.
--------------------
Let's look at whey:
--------------------
Increased Glutathione levels has been shown in
numerous clinical studies to have positive effects
against a variety of cancers and tumors.
Lifestar brand Glutathene is a naturally derived
nondenatured whey protein powder which promotes
optimal functioning of the immune system by increasing
and helping to sustain normal levels of glutathione in
the lymphocytes with no side effects other than
occasional positive cleansing reactions.
-------------
What about using MSM instead of cottage cheese or
whey? Here are a few comments from websites:
"MSM is composed of the amino acids Methionine,
Cysteine and Cystine which can be found in cellular
proteins of all living organisms. It is little more
than sulfur, an essential part of the American diet
that used to be in all of our fruits and vegetables
when the top soil was rich with nutrients. . . "
Quinoa's protein is relatively high in lysine,
methionine and cystine.
Dr. Weil says:
"Like buckwheat and quinoa, amaranth is an especially
high-quality source of plant protein including two
essential amino acids, lysine and methionine, which
are generally low in grains."

Studies have shown that
S-Adenosylmethionine (SAM-e), N-acetylcysteine (NAC),
and supplements made from unadulterated whey protein,
raise cysteine levels.
Would NAC work for the Budwig Diet?
NAC helps break down toxic chemicals in the body.
It is believed that NAC increases low
glutathione and cysteine levels in the leukocytes of
patients.
. . . damage by free radicals has been
determined to be one of the fundamental causes of
these types of diseases and glutathione is known as an
extraordinarily powerful antioxidant that efficiently
eliminates free radicals from the body.
Some research studies have produced
evidence that the molecule may provide protection from
or help to treat a wide range of diseases and
conditions, proving especially helpful in treating
conditions that are linked with aging.
We can read different views on how to take NAC.
Here is one perspective.
NAC (N-Acetyl-l-Cysteine)
http://www.houseofnutrition.com/nacnac.html
There are various concerns by some people. Dr.
Mercola prefers cold-pressed whey over NAC. Some
people praise NAC and others are very cautious about the
amount taken. Whey and NAC stimulate
glutathione. Glutathione is your body’s most
powerful antioxidant and has even been called “the
master antioxidant.”
Dr. Mercola says:
The main function of glutathione is to protect your
cells and mitochondria from oxidative and peroxidative
damage. As you age, your body’s ability to produce
glutathione decreases.
Glutathione isn’t just an endogenous antioxidant--it is
also an essential factor in energy utilization,
detoxification, and preventing the diseases we associate
with aging. Glutathione deficiency has been linked to:
Age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s
Coronary and autoimmune diseases
Arthritis, asthma and other inflammatory conditions
Cancer
Mitochondrial dysfunction
Muscle weakness and fatigue
Short-term memory is also improved by glutathione.
But there is another view that says that NAC in large
doses over time may cause the body to reduce making
glutathione resulting in a shortage that causes these
problems to eventually magnify.
NOW brand NAC says to take a 600 mg Vcap 2 times a
day. It goes on to say that N-Acetyl Cysteine
(NAC) is a stable form of the non-essential amino acid
L-Cysteine. It is a sulfur-containing amino acid that
acts as a stabilizer for the formation of protein
structures, and is also necessary for the formation of
glutathione. Added Molybdenum and Selenium are essential
trace minerals that facilitate the production of several
important enzymes.
I usually take one 600 mg Vcap per day. I open it
and take half with breakfast and the other half with
supper. I take it for a month and then began to
take a week off. Sometimes I take it every other
day and try to see how it feels. The only possible
side-effect I may feel are the ups and downs of short
term memory.

Back to the basics:
Budwig Diet: A simple diet based on a
combination of flaxseed oil and low fat cottage cheese
(sulphurated protein), and rest in the sun for a
while.
------------------
From this, it seems the most basic
problem is the low level of omega-3 oil in the diet,
and a great imbalance with too much omega-6 and
refined oils. The cottage cheese is to help the uptake
of omega-3 into the body. Resting in the sun is a good
source of vitamin D, though it may energize our system
in other ways too. Since some people need to limit
their time in the sun and use sunscreens, taking
vitamin D3 would probably be of value for them.
Sulfurs:
Anyway, that is some background
commentary.
The essence of the Diet typically uses:
1 tbsp ground flax seeds
2 tbsp flax seed oil
4 tbsp cottage cheese
Could something just as good be made from
chia seeds, flax seeds, and maybe add vegetarian DHA
omega-3, if needed? Consider chia seeds.
and DHA
If oil is needed, could olive oil be
used? Or is water soluble fiber chia good enough to
use without oil?
Some say it is best to avoid high lignan
oil. But the ground flax seeds have all their lignans.
- ? And most people praise the health value of
lignans.
Is glutathene part of the dynamics of the
Budwig Diet? If so, could whey or NAC be used?
If a sulphurated protein is needed could
quinoa with MSM be used? Is milk protein needed at all
since chia seeds have high protein? And with
MSM, could that give a sulphurated protein? Are we
mostly trying to maximize the omega-3 absorbed into
the body? Then how about adding a good quality
digestive enzyme, particularly needed by the sick and
all of us as we get older.
And how about D-Ribose, a special sugar,
for cancer cachexia? Heart MD Institute says: Because
their energy demands exceed what their bodies are able
to produce, people with ischemic heart disease,
congestive heart failure (CHF), hypertension,
fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome, in
addition to serious athletes, need to supplement with
D-ribose. It stimulates insulin and reduce blood sugar
levels.
What could be as effective without the
cottage cheese, or even flax oil for that matter?
Consider This Diet
(that is filled with omega-3 from chia seeds, flax
seeds, and DHA, plus a tbsp of flax oil if you wish):
Take about 4 tbsp chia seeds, grind 2 tbsp flax seeds
(the lignans are anti-cancer) soaked in filtered or
spring water for 5 - 10 minutes (add some stevia or
organic honey for taste). Along with that take DHA - 3
softgels, 1 tsp MSM, and 1 tsp D-Ribose, 2000 to 5000 IU
vitamin D3, and 1 or 2 digestive enzymes. Finally,
take NAC of 300 mg to 600 mg. Repeat this 2 to 4
times a day (with up to 1200 mg of NAC).
If not vegan, you can take cold-pressed whey instead of
NAC (take it alone 30 minutes before the other
nutrients),
http://www.lifestar.com/Pages/glutathene.html
and you can take one or two krill oil 500 mg,
http://www.vitaglo.com/1626.html
instead three vegetarian DHA 200 mg.
http://www.vitaglo.com/1609.html
If you want flax oil
http://www.vitaglo.com/1783.html
That may lose the placebo benefit of the
Budwig Diet. But if it generally works, perhaps it can
be refined and improved to help against many cancers.

Maybe all these supplements seem too
much, costing hundreds of dollars or more. What are
people in the mainstream doing? A search for
prescriptions filled in 2011 finds that people age
19-64 averaged 11.9 prescriptions and age 65+ averaged
28. USA Today Money section reported that in 2011 the
US spent $320 billion on prescriptions. The economy is
forcing people to use less medicine. But
pharmaceutical companies are fighting back, as we
read:
Last year, 34 new prescription
medications were launched in the U.S., the most in a
decade. They brought significantly better treatments
to more than 20 million Americans with
life-threatening conditions, including cancer,
hepatitis C, heart disease and multiple sclerosis.
But the new drugs carry big price tags, with most
costing tens of thousands of dollars for a year or a
course of treatment.

The insurance companies pay for this,
right? Even for people who can afford insurance, isn't
that "kicking the can down the road." The public will
pay in the long run with higher insurance rates paid
by themselves, their companies, or the government.
One other factor with little or no cost.
State of mind: A strong aversion to
death creates stress that creates more negative
biochemicals.
